Our talented team in the kitchen, overseen by head chef Peter Friskey, use the finest produce of the season, sourced locally, to produce dishes rich with flavour.
Choose from popular classics of The Red Lion Inn or from the a la carte or daily specials board. Peter and his team pride themselves on offering something for every taste and occasion.
We are pleased to offer the same menu and high levels of service throughout the pub, encouraging guests to eat or drink where they feel most comfortable.
As our menus change with the availability of fresh produce and the seasons, it is wise to keep abreast of such changes, and of course our food events, by either signing up to receive our news updates or liking us on Facebook.
Although we do not have a specific children's menu, we will happily adapt dishes and size of serving to suit the younger ones’ tastes.

The majority of our suppliers are local and deliver daily, which allows a regularly changing Specials Board.
We strive to offer you a true taste of the region, with both our food and our drinks. There are always four local real ales on the hand pumps, three of which are permanent fixtures: Woodforde's Wherry (Norfolk), Greene King IPA (Suffolk) and Adnams bitter (Suffolk), with the fourth pump rotating between smaller local micro breweries, such as City of Cambridge Hobson's Choice, Nethergate Augustinian and Brandon Rusty Bucket.We have over 40 wines on offer, supplied by Suffolk's Adnams Wine, as well as Cambridge Wines and Matthew Clark. It’s a pretty comprehensive list, covering the noted regions and containing a few lesser known gems, accommodating most pockets and palates. At any one time 17 of these wines are available by the 175ml or 250ml glass, as well as 5 by the half bottle.

As last year, we are celebrating New Year's Eve at our sister pub, The Black Bull Balsham, with a four course dinner and disco.

New Burger Board
Anyone who has tried one of Peter's burgers over the years will know they are difficult to match.
The format of the Pie Board at The Black Bull has been so popular that we are celebrating Peter's Burgers in the same way. So you can now choose from a number of burgers, a selection of cheeses and a selection of chutneys.
The ultimate challenge is The Red Lion Burger @ £13. This is made from the best local beef available - Riverside Beef from cows reared exclusively on the riverbank meadows of Cambridgeshire - see here for more information on this fine consortium. Additionally, £1 for every Red Lion Burger sold is donated to our chosen charity this year - Imperial War Museum Duxford (IWM).
Otherwise you can opt for a more conventional classic burger @ £10. The selection of these varies from day to day - maybe venison, lamb, game, pork, partridge ...
